runtastic Partners with MyFitnessPal to Offer App-to-App Integration

No Comments Posted in: runtastic all about | October 18, 2012

A rigorous exercise schedule helps you maintain your ideal weight, but how much you eat is just as important. Sometimes, a calorie-torching workout can feel like an excuse to eat that sinful slice of chocolate cake you’ve been craving, but how do you keep from overcompensating? Tracking calories is a great way to ensure you’re not consuming more calories than you burn.

That’s why runtastic has teamed up with the like-minded fitness resource MyFitnessPal. MyFitnessPal, a free tool to help people improve their health, lets users log daily food consumption and report workouts. Through new partnerships with runtastic and a select group of other companies, users can more accurately incorporate physical activity into their calorie logs online or via mobile devices.

With the debut of MyFitnessPal’s application programming interface (API), runtastic users can seamlessly sync real-time exercise data to MyFitnessPal. This app-to-app integration is available in the newest versions of runtastic’s Pedometer and runtastic apps. Users of both apps will now have a more complete view of their overall health.

We’re proud to be working with MyFitnessPal, as runtastic is always looking for new ways to help our users reach their health and fitness goals. Whether you want to shed a few pounds or make sure you’re eating enough to fuel your race training, monitoring nutrition is important.

Don’t forget to upgrade your runtastic app, and download MyFitnessPal from the App Store or Google Play.

CES 2012 – Day 4

CES 2012 – Day 4

Finally the worlds larges fair in the electronics sector has an end. With the end of today the CES 2012 is closed and a lot of exhibitors are already on their way home and ship their products back to their headquarters. Finding words for the CES 2012 is not easy at all. Besides the fact that a lot of very important contacts were made, the CES presents itself very spectacular. The size of the CES is unbelievable and the presented products are on cutting edge technologies and the most innovative products on the market at the moment. The greatly arranged presentations of the products especially of the well known and already established brands is very hard to top in sence of professionality.

You also have to think of the rat tail of this convention. Over 140.000 people came to Las Vegas for this show. The normally very low tourism this town has to face in winter is stimulated a lot because of the CES and is very important for Las Vegas in winter. It was great to be a part of this convention, there have been great impressions to take with us and very important connections have been established. We are looking foward to CES 2013 and say „good buy Las Vegas, Nevada“!

runtastic regards from Las Vegas

CES 2012 – Day 3 – Mobile App Showdown

CES 2012 – Day 3 – Mobile App Showdown

On the third day of the CES 2012 in Las Vegas, the Mobile App Showdown 2012 was taking place right in the convention center Las Vegas. Via online voting people could vote for their favorite app and ten out of the over 1000 nominated apps were presented at the CES 2012 today. Each of the ten companies was allowed to do a four minutes presentation to get people into the app. Florian Gschwandtner, CEO of runtastic, did a great presentation of the runtastic Roadbike app and got a lot of attention on him and runtastic. After the presentation round two prices were awarded. One of them was based on the ongoing online voting and one of them was based on the noise the crowd did right here at the event. Out of a very wide pool of apps the Macaw mobile App and the Magisto App won an the competition.

This day 3 of the CES was not that intense as the first two days have been. Not this huge mass of people came to the convention anymore, still there were thousands that came to get information concerning the newest products of the exhibitors. Also the last day of the CES 2012 will be an interesting one and we are looking foward to tomorrow. Of course I will keep you up-to-date with the latest news.

runtastic regards from Vegas

The consumer electronics show 2012 (CES) which is held in the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas, reaches dimensions which are hard to imagine. On Jan 9 2012 about 25 000 people were waiting for one of the over 4000 active cabs on the Las Vegas Airport. More than 140 000 people were heading to Las Vegas in order to join the CES either as exhibitor or as guest. Companies of totally different sectors are presenting their new products and announcements here in Las Vegas at the moment.

With our first own booth our team runtastic was starting into this amazing convention and was happy to find very interested people at the CES. The booth was very well visited throughout the whole day and people were excited to hear about the runtastic products. Of course team runtastic sneaked through the halls of the CES as well and we were totally excited to see the extraordinary booths and presentations of other companies. One of todays highlights was that runtastic CEO Florian Gschwandtner was allowed to present on one of the CES stages and could get a lot of attention on him and on runtastic. Looking foward to the next days of the CES 2012 and of course I will keep the runtastic community up-to-date.

Cheers from Vegas
